MOLLY'S SPARKLING DEBUT NOT ENOUGH TO TOP JACKIE, MIKE

ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- Molly became the second player in FVWBL history to homer in her first career at-bat, but it wasn't enough to spur her and Judd to Molly's first career tournament victory a couple Fridays ago.

After Jackie and Mike knocked Shelly and Jake into the losers bracket by a 1-0 score, Molly led off the top of the first inning with a solo home run. Without any help from Judd, however, Molly's home run didn't hold up on its own, and Jackie and Mike took the second game of the tournament 2-1.

The elimination game pitted two Kroona girls against each other and it was Molly getting the best of Shelly by a 4-1 score. The win put Molly and Judd in the finals needing to beat Jackie and Mike twice. The loss by Shelly and Jake put them in the stands to watch the remainder of the tournament.

Jackie is 8-10 on the hill in 2003.

Molly and Judd got off to a fast championship start with four runs including Molly's second home run of the day -- a home run that put her atop the female home run race with two. Jackie and Mike could only put together one run of their own and fell by a score of 4-1 forcing the "if" game.

Jackie and Mike got it going early with two runs and Jackie shut Molly and Judd down for the second time in three games. Jackie and Mike took the game 2-0 and the tournament championship with a 3-1 record.
